Women Association for Marginalized Women (WAM), Surkhet is a non-profit NGO working to reduce gender gaps in social, economic, and cultural aspects in order to promote an equitable society. WAM empowers women by conducting awareness activities related to traditional beliefs, violence against women, gender and social discrimination, and social exclusion.

WAM is seeking dynamic and result-oriented Nepalese citizens for the following position under the “Increasing Access to Policymaking through Women’s Empowerment” Project, funded by Oxfam in Nepal.

Position: Finance Officer – 1 Position

Duty Station:  Birendranagar, Surkhet

Minimum Qualification and Experience: 

Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or business administration, or related field with minimum 2 years experience, solid knowledge of financial and accounting procedures, experience using financial software (FAMAS), advanced MS Excel skills knowledge of financial regulations, excellent analytical and numerical skills with an ability to manage confidential data, proven work experience as a finance officer or similar role.

Major Responsibility: 

  • Oversee day-to-day financial transactions of the project, and develop and maintain financial systems.
  • Ensure that all payments are made in compliance with proper financial procedures.
  • Review bills/invoices and ensure adequate supporting documents; generate payment vouchers, write cheques, and hand them over to the concerned parties in a timely manner.
  • Maintain safe and proper filing of vouchers, monthly financial reports, bank reconciliation statements, and data backups for auditing and future requirements.
  • Provide technical support to physical verification and the procurement committee as needed.
  • Prepare reports and documents covering accounting transactions for management review.
  • Ensure accurate records are maintained in line with standard practices.
  • Establish budgets, forecast future cash flows, and provide periodic financial analysis.
  • Monitor budget performance and control expenditures.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks at the field level.
  • Prepare audit documentation and provide necessary support during audits.
  • Support the line manager in administrative tasks related to the project, including preparation of monthly, annual, and detailed activity budgets.
  • Support the line manager in orienting non-financial staff regarding financial compliance.

Women Association for Marginalized Women (WAM) is a non-profit non-governmental organization established on January 2, 2054 with the inspiration and support of SAC Nepal. By reducing the distortions, inconsistencies, corruption, bad culture, orthodox traditions, superstitions, violence against women, gender and social discrimination in the society, to empower and enable the women who have been left behind from social, economic and human points of view through various educational, economic and awareness activities, women and The organization was established with the vision of uniting children and supporting their intellectual and personality development, bridging the gap between men and women and building a healthy, beautiful, self-reliant and self-respecting gender equal society through gender equality and social inclusion.

With the original slogan of "Not leaving men behind, our desire is for women and men to develop equally", this organization aims to bring about positive changes in the social, economic, educational, health and political living standards of women, children, youth and teenagers. , the rights of marginalized groups, human rights, disaster management, people's advocacy, counseling, etc. has gained experience.

Ensuring 33 percent women's participation in every structure of the state after the creation of the new constitution is the result of years of activity and movement of Nepali women. Which we consider to be a great achievement and it has great importance for women's self-esteem. Women now have meaningful participation in every state agency. The common Nepali women should be proud of this. There is also the challenge of putting pressure on the state for more rights and participation. At the same time, we have been conducting policies and programs with the aim of guaranteeing the rights of women, children, teenagers, youth, Dalits, tribes and backward women.

This organization is implementing programs in various backward communities in collaboration with Nepal government, national and international non-governmental organizations, and donor organizations, various networks and cooperation, cooperation and coordination. In order to fulfill the vision, goals, goals and objectives set by the organization, with the help of various partner organizations, it has gathered experience of working in all the municipalities and rural villages within Surkhet district, while outside the district, the program is being implemented in Dailekh district of Karnali province and Baitadi district of Sudurpaschim province.
